SPINSTALGIA

A spinning top toy featuring daylight-visible 3D holographic display capabilities for gameplay

ROLE

Idea Designer

OVERVIEW

The amount of time children spend outside has declined by 50% in a single generation

Children ages 5-15 years old spend 2-3 online daily, which often replaces time outside

Over 400 playgrounds have closed in the UK with a growing number of "no-ball restrictions" in remaining green spaces

Play deprivation and lack of peer to peer interaction hinders social development

PROBLEM

Anti-play sentiment is on the rise. "No ball games" signs and the slow disappearance of playgrounds are becoming the norm. Screens have filled the gap, and with them come growing concerns about mental health, coordination, physical development, and children's ability to connect with each other in the real world.

Solution

Spinstalgia reimagines the classic spinning top for the future, projecting a daylight-visible 3D holographic display for interactive gameplay.
