Designed an observational AI classroom intervention with a refined user experience for discrete observations to aid in the diagnosis of learning disabilities in children.
ROLE
PROBLEM
Teachers are overwhelmed with growing class sizes and heavy workloads while students learning disabilities are going undiagnosed leading to poor later life outcomes.
RESULTS
40% of people with learning difficulties aren’t diagnosed in childhood
Schools in England fail to diagnose around 80% of pupils with dyslexia
40% of children with undiagnosed learning disabilities will die 15-20 years than the general population.
Ensuring no child is left behind
The education system is under immense pressure at the moment with ever expanding class sizes and teachers suffering under the weight of “unfair, unhealthy and unsustainable” workloads. Resulting in less 1-1 teacher student interaction thus an inability to detect learning disabilities in pupils. Capricorn, an AI observational assistant is a necessary classroom intervention able to detect tell tale signs of learning issues without distracting the students or the user.

Simplify the complex
I mapped out the existing flows and found friction in key areas: redundant screens, unclear fees, and limited visual feedback. These added unnecessary steps to what should’ve been a seamless task.

A frictionless first impression
Post-launch metrics showed the redesign had an immediate impact on both usability and user perception. By prioritizing simplicity and confidence, NovaPay became more than a tool—it became a habit.
